Infection

icky

icky

For those of you (Nathalie) that wanted to see it, here is my infection.

You’re probably all going “what – is that it?” and I quite agree – it looks puny. My eye’s a bit puffy and teary/watery too – which you can’t tell from the picture. And I can feel it up my scalp and stuff. It’s as itchy as ….. at the moment. Hopefully that means it’s healing.

I’ve absolutely no idea if it’s bad or not. * I was surprised when they put me on the large dose antibiotic (but then I was surprised it was even an infection!), but I ended up changing to a smaller dose because that was making me very nauseous and giving me a bad stomach.

I’ve been very run down generally this week and it’s THAT (combined with the pills!) which has been making me feel unwell. I’m very tired, headachy, weepy and my appetite is ‘up the swanny’ at the moment. I went to bed at 8.15pm yesterday. Unheard of. And that’s after spending all afternoon in bed plus an hour from 4pm lying in the sunshine in the garden. Had trouble staying awake long enough to take the last pill of the day at 10pm.

I’m so relieved I’ve been signed off all next week. I’m no good at being poorly! I know in the scheme of things I’m not even very poorly really, but I’m the sort that gets all over anxious and worried about “life, the universe and everything” and imagine everything’s a load worse than it is. (There are reasons for that.) My doctor – who has been lovely – thinks it’s stress more than anything. Rest and relaxation are the order of the day.

Anyway – I hope I haven’t put anyone off their food. Might delete this after a couple of days!

* I just did a google image search on “skin infection”. *vomits everywhere*  Mine is DEFINITELY not bad! Superficial really.

Well, that’s just typical…

I’ve got a week off work and I’m starting it on antibiotics. LOL

I was feeling a bit run-down last week, and kept getting a pain above my right eye, and a bit of ear-ache and stuff. Then on Friday evening, I noticed a funny red patch above my right eye. “That’s funny.” I thought.

(I did say it was a funny red patch.)

Anyway it sat there all weekend looking red and hilarious, and started getting painful to the touch.  Saturday I felt all flaky and didn’t do much. Yesterday, I still felt a bit flaky when I woke up, but I was meant to be going to meet up with the  “Shropshire Flickr Community” so we could wow each other taking photos in the Stiperstones region of Shropshire. i wasn’t sure if i should go, but I did anyway. LOL. (I had a good time, but spent the day very aware of that bit of skin above my eye!)

Today, the funny red patch was still there, just as sore and tender as ever – but I was starting not to enjoy the jokes it was telling. I didn’t think it looked red or angry enough to ring the doctors, so I walked down to the local pharmacy. The assistant called the pharmacist to have a look, and she thought someone at the doctor’s surgery should have a look. So I went to the surgery, was told to go home and a nurse would ring me. The nurse rang me and made an appointment for later that afternoon.

And yes. I have an infection. Bit sort of like impetigo. Ish.  And I’m on the big-size antibiotics. Oh well – these things happen.

So, that’s just typical. I thought I was getting a bit run-down at work. I’m blaming work for everything lately. LOL. An employee’s prerogative! 🙂

Photographic connections

Well – the other day flickr wouldn’t let me log in, but that’s all sorted now. I ended up posting on the help forum, along with a load of other people from around the world experiencing the same problem. Someone ended up answering a comment of mine directly, so I had a little look at his profile and it turned out he lived about 4 miles from me. Co-inky-dink? Anyway, as a result I got invited to join a ‘Shropshire’ flickr forum, and I actually met up with a few of them the other night at Wrekin Arts group where we spectated at a talk by this guy… http://www.guyedwardes.com/index.html

He has the best job in the world! I’d love to take photos as good as his. (And make money from it!) It certainly gave us all food for thought, and I certainly came away with a bad case of lens envy.) I realise now I’ve seen some of his photos in magazines and things.

Anyway. The weather is rubbish. (Lots of flash flooding in the UK again lately.) As far as my little garden is concerned, my summer bedding is all over really. It never properly got going anyway. Not enough warmth or sun. Instead it’s just been bashed more or less daily by rain. Hence not many garden photos. It’s really disappointing after last summer. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for next year. I’ve planted up a few cyclamen which I’m hoping will see me through until the spring. I’ve never tried them before, so I’ll be interested to see how they go.

In other news, I’m finishing off going through my April LA photos. Currently thinking the Disney Hall in Downtown LA is just fab. Here’s a few piccies for you.
